My new TH400 transmission is bolted in but as I expected, new holes need to be drilled in the frame to accommodate the new position of the crossmember. Problem is with the crossmenmber installed the holes are obscured by the frame and I can’t figure out how to mark the frame for the new holes.

Does anybody have a procedure how to locate the new holes or anyone have a source for an aftermarket transmission crossmember which uses the pre-drilled holes in the frame of a 66 Malibu with a TH-350 that moved the transmission mounting point aft to accommodate a TH-400.

Brad, there may be a better way but I let my engine\trans hang down on the jack and bolted on xmember to the trans with the xmember below the frame, then jacked the trans back up till the crossmember touched the frame and marked the holes. Drill holes, take crossmember back off and reinstall in the frame channel.
