I am getting ready to paint my '70 forest green 48 paint code velle and need some help on the paint. I am nut sure exactly what shade of dark green to paint it. Some seen to have more blue that others. The "originals" I see vary A LOT!! Does anyone have any suggestions?? This will also have the white strips. My paint guy told me to find a car that looks close to what I think it looks like and let him know model and year. I have been thinking of the 2000 Corvette Bowling Green color. How far would this be from the orignial color?? Any thoughts are much appreciated.

Thanks

I repainted my Forrest Green Metallic Chevelle in the fall of 1998 and had no problem matching the original shade. I used PPG Acrylic enamel with a urethane hardener. The inside of the trunk was never repainted and it matches the new paint with no problem. The skill lies in the amount of paint layed down because of the metallic content. If not enough paint is layed down, the final color is too light....if too much, it's very dark. Chevk out the shots of the car on my home page about a year after it was painted. The PPG number is 2173.

It's a color that varies in appearance a fair amount under different light conditions. You should be OK. Might suggest the painter have some discussion with PPG rep prior if any questions. I wouldn't deviate from the formula that is given by PPG.

We used the PPG Global System.
