I bought a new welding helmet for a friend in the UK and was wondering what the marks are for on the lens? please see picture. I'm dying to know.

I believe that is the protective plastic to keep the surface from being accidently scratched before being installed.

Hope you got a dark lens to go with it. It might get a little hard on the eyes if not.
