: 71 Horn wiring?
Pelle Chevelle Apr 2nd, 06, 7:25 AM http://hem.bredband.net/chevellegearheads/images/relay.jpg
Can someone please help me identify the horn relay connections & tell me where they should run?
Top left is black
Bottom left is Pink/black
And the #4 on the block is empty!
Is the pink/black one in the wrong place?
Best regards Pelle

Yes, wrong place. Pink/black is for the key buzzer. Go here for a pic on wiring

Pelle Chevelle Apr 2nd, 06, 2:02 PM So I guess that the black one (top left) should be where the pink/black one is now? And then a cable with larger area from the top left to the horns?

PelleCorrect, the black one in your pic looks like it has some overspray on it.
Pelle Chevelle Apr 2nd, 06, 3:31 PM Yeah! They have sprayed without masking under the hood :-(
Cut cables everywhere. I'm planning to buy new harnesses but it'll have to wait for a while. $$$$$$!
Thanks for the help. I just hope they haven't switched anything at the other end to correct their misstakes!

Pelle Chevelle Apr 17th, 06, 3:43 AM Is'nt it supposed to be some sort of "key-buzzer" in that relay? Or is the buzzer itself placed somwhere else?
69SSRat Apr 17th, 06, 4:24 AM In the relay
Pelle Chevelle Apr 17th, 06, 7:20 AM The earlier relays & the 71's relay look the same but the 71's is much more expensive. Is that due to the buzzer function? Does pre 71's have the buzzer att all?
Dean Apr 17th, 06, 8:22 AM I think all that had the locking steering wheel had the combo horn relay/key buzzer.
I know my 69 HAD it.
72 is the odd ball year, the horn relay is on the fire wall and has a large stud main power terminal.
Pelle Chevelle Apr 17th, 06, 3:38 PM Sorry but...
The relay in my car look like the one on the picture:
http://www.chevelle.danchuk.com/03_01_horn_relays.html#3403 and that's supposed to be a 64-68 relay (do they have buzzers?). Do they all look the same but they come with or without buzzer? My Chevelle is Canadian made, no differences there?
What is the difference between the 64-68 & 66-71 relays?
Best regard Pelle
Dean Apr 17th, 06, 7:54 PM I don't know but I didn't think 68/older Chevelles had the "key in" warning buzzer.
What I *think* is that "66-71" on that page is a typo and should be 69-71 which would be the ones with buzzer.
Pelle Chevelle Apr 18th, 06, 3:06 AM Does anyone hav the "internal wirin/scematics" for the -71 (buzzer) Horn relay? I'm trying to understand the function & see if I can replace it with a new relay!
You've all been wery helpful, thanks!

When pink w/ black stripe is grounded, the key buzzer will buzz. When the small black is grounded the horns will sound. You can test your relay to see if it works. When test grounding stuff use a small fuse, like a 5 amp, incase you ground the wrong wire.

"incase you ground the wrong wire"
"Been there, done that!" ;-)
