the 71-72 front fenders do not have the marker light provision that is found at the bottom front of the 70 fenders. the 70 headlight extensions or buckets are for four headlights, and were stamped steel, and the 71-72 were single headlight and die cast. 71-72 extensions interchange, but both were single headlight, and the 71 headlight bezels and parking light bezels differ from 72. 70-72 two door and four door sedan front fenders and headlight extensions are particular to themselves and do not interchange with El Camino, Sprint, or Wagon. The parking light bezels on the 71-72 El Camino, Sprint and Wagon are larger than the two and four door car parking light bezels. the 70 radiator support has the same mounting bolt on ears (to frame horns) as the 71-72, but is formed for four headlights. the 70 front bumper is specific to that year, as is the outer front bumper brackets. The bumper filler and grille, with attachment hardware and misc. brackets to mount the grille are also specific to 70.

I already did it. You NEED 70 core support, fenders, headlight extentions and averything that goes with them, bumper, turnsignal assy's, parking light assy's grille and filler panel, rear bumper and tail lights. 71-72 fenders will NOT bolt to a 70 core support and 70 fenders will NOT bolt to a 71-72 core support. Also 70 fender extensions will NOT fit 71-72 core support of fenders.

I am having trouble finding a front clip for an el camino for a 1970. Can I use a front clip from a 70 chevelle?

No, the elco and wagons are not the same as a coupe. the body lines are different as well as the fender extensions and so on. Fenders and fender extentions have different body lines. However the hood inner fenders front bumper and core support are the same

thank you, I was just hoping that there was some alternative. My 70 had a 68 front clip and is in rough shape except for the ss hood

Chevelle Madness-
Do you have a rough estimate on how much it cost you to do that?

Well I bought everything used from swap meets and ebay but I couldn't honestly tell ya what it coast all together but I can tell you it really isn't much more than doing a 71 or 72. But if you went with everything new and you shop around you can probably get everything you need for around $1500 maybe a little more. It's all available new so finding it won't be an issue. I did however forget to mention that the forward light wiring harness and tail light harness are also different and are 70 only

Isn't there a few brackets that aren't available new? Such as the vertical brackets that attach the grill and fender extensions (not the upper ones)? Also there is a long bracket that goes net to the hood latch. I have had no luck finding one of them either...HELP?

The long bracket is called the hood latch support.

Thanks! It's good to know they make them. Now I need to find the others that hold the grill together with the fender extensions??? I have the parts for a 71, but don't know if they are the same for the 70. I know the hood latch support is different.

Is it possible to attach 70 fender extensions to a 72, and will the body lines match? Ignoring the fit of the headlight to the core support or missing turn signals?
