a body shop in my area wanted me to ask if anyone out there knows the formula to 5190 dupont l and a paint for code 26 1970 mulsanne blue. or if someone knows a ppg number also.he has tried on two occassions to have companies match a color strip for him to paint his '72 chevelle, but it keeps coming back the wrong shade. the color of the inside of his trunk lid matched the color strip perfectly, but the paint techs cannot get it right. thanks. dave

Code 26 is Fathom Blue. I had the local shop mix it for me in PPG but do not have the details.
Fathom blue is a dark blue metallic.

Fathom Blue was code 28 in 1970. There is no Mulsanne Blue code 26 in 1970. Mulsanne blue was a 71 &72 code 26 color. I don't know about Dupont or PPG Numbers. I used Sherwin-Williams code 26 Mulsanne Blue on my 71.
With all that said, chances of matching the original paint (if thats what he is trying to do) without tinting it and experimenting with different shades is slim. When you order paint for a 30+ year old car,you can't expect the paint to match. Most paint company's have a comp system that will tell them the closest color to your 30+ year old car they have available. It may be from a 97 Ford Pick-Up or some other car maker.
