My motor is a knockin and I gotta do some shoppin! I need a correct block for my 67 Chevelle SS that was built the first week of July 67 (07A). By the #s says it is a 3902406. I would like to hear from the knowledgeable people on this site if that is correct and what range of date codes I should be looking for to produce a correct restoration. I was told the first half of June is the ideal range to look for. Thanks in advance for all of your help now and in the past! Have an outstanding Air Force day!

Thanks Bob. Anyone else? This is a great site and I have learned so much just from reading all of the info in the forums.

The 67 Camaro block above would be within an acceptable date range but the MZ code would be a dead giveaway that it's not a Chevelle engine. Then again, no matter what 67 block you get, it'll probably have a VIN derivative like the Camaro one above (7L164062) which won't match your car either. With these two items showing it's not the original engine, why bother with getting a 'date correct' block anyway? You may find a date and suffix correct block but it'll still have a different VIN derivative.
Not trying to talk you out of getting a date correct block, just pointing out that it'll still obvious it's not original.

I agree with Dale.
