: Bucket Seats...How much?
Jimmyhotrod Mar 30th, 06, 9:09 PM I found some "mint" recovered 1971 chevelle bucket seats and rear for $900.00. It that too much? I really want to replace the bench...(my parkin days are long gone) :boring: But that price set me back a little, because next I would have to find a console and all the goodies to go with it.
1badss396 Mar 30th, 06, 9:15 PM OUCH:eek:
ranvette Mar 30th, 06, 10:05 PM A decent set off ebay would run right around $500 to $600.Than new covers to make them mint and who knows maybe head rests some foam ?.A mint set in lets say Black could add up to $1000 i would think. This stuff adds up fast.
Chevy 70 SS vert Mar 30th, 06, 10:13 PM Keeping looking! I got a nice set buckets, from a guy for $150, you could drop them in your daliy driver and use them they are that nice. Try not to buy off of ebay as you WILL spend a fortune for shipping.
the ss kid Mar 31st, 06, 12:00 AM looks like i got hit pretty hard then. i bought a set a buckets for $100 and covers for $150 and then had them covered for $90. is $340 too much (not that it matters now the damage is already done)for a finished set of 70 ss buckets?
Chris R Mar 31st, 06, 2:42 AM In my opinion. If anyone pays over 400 dollars for a set of buckets that still need to be recovered. Thats too much.
blm Mar 31st, 06, 10:20 AM In your post you say bucket seats and rear. Are you getting the rear seat as well for $900.00? If so that price is not too bad. If you consider doing it yourself you would have approx $300.00 for a set of buckets, $120.00 for seat foam,$175.00 for new covers,$175.00 for new head rests. So you are allmost to $900.00 and you still have to do all the work yourself. Also if you are switching from a bench to buckets you will need new seat tracks and a new shifter hump if your car is a manual trans.Plan on spending $1,500.00 for a bench to bucket conversion unless you get a great deal somewhere. Maybe you could get a deal from someone(private owner) if you offer to buy everthing you would need at one time.
72Mark Mar 31st, 06, 10:24 AM At one time they were going for big chunks of change. Now that I see you can buy the frames, springs, foam, covers, and practically everything else, it almost isn't worth going junkyarding for a set.
I am sure you can find a better deal than $900 however.
I'm sure you can get a better deal than $900.00 as well. Just need to find the right person. If you start buying repo frames and springs etc. you are going to have way over $900.00 into just the front buckets. I did a bench to bucket conversion approx 4 years ago and at that time a reconditioned bucket seat with new cover etc. was $1,000.00. That was for a single bucket seat. Also in my earlier post I said you would need new seat tracks. My mistake I meant new bucket seat mounting brackets will have to be welded in.
BUDS1970 Mar 31st, 06, 1:43 PM Has anyone else out there used buckets out of another vehicle?I've got a set of 2003 Pontiac Sunfire buckets in mine and I love them.
Jimmyhotrod Apr 1st, 06, 9:31 AM Thanks for the info:D
79VetteMike Apr 1st, 06, 11:24 AM I just sold a set of '67 SS bucket seats on Ebay for $920. That was about double what I expected to get. There were in GREAT shape. The guy paid that much and is actually going to recover them. Crazy, but I guess if someone wants something..... By the way, I just joined this forum. I own a 1970 Monte Carlo(that's what the buckets came out of). I am looking for another Chevelle to replace the one I traded 8 years ago. Anyway, hello everyone!!
Andy69 Apr 1st, 06, 11:40 AM  I'm glad I bought mine when I did. I paid $100 a couple years ago, but they need new covers, backs, and side thingies. I might just sell them if that's what they're going for!

jtm60 Apr 1st, 06, 2:25 PM I paid $280 for a set that had to be completely re-built..since then, had the frames bead blasted and powder coated, new foam, new covers, plus headrests were stripped and re-dyed to match rest of interior...it adds up fast, I know I have $1000 into them all said and done. Sold my nice bench seat for $325 so that took some of the sting out of it.
counntryboy Apr 1st, 06, 2:55 PM like i said before, this is'nt a hobby anymore. tell me how many guys can put out 1000 just for seats. you got to have a big paying job. in the early 80s i put a whole new inside in a 65 mustang for that kind of money. no wonder i don't post very often.....counntryboy
RAMBO Apr 1st, 06, 3:10 PM Um... don't know where you guys think you can get factory bucket seats without needing re-covering for $100.. At that price I'll take a bunch.
I've bought and sold a lot of factory bucket seats(i have a tendancy to change my mind a lot) and $200-$250 for a set of REBUILDABLE seats is pretty much standard on this side of the country- but again that is for seats that need new covers & foam. So then add in the cost of the new covers and foam and springs, side & back plastic if you need it, and of course labor to have someone re-assemble them.
I would say that $900 for a pair of Mint condition seats is probably a good price (as long as they really are mint)- but again thats over here on the west coast where stuff aint cheap anymore :p
79VetteMike Apr 1st, 06, 7:56 PM Here are the seats I sold...

projekt70chevelle Apr 2nd, 06, 9:37 PM I would never pay 900 for those seats... I would rather have nice LEATHER corbeau's for that money. Looking at that auction above mine are going on ebay now and then I'm buying corbeau's.
Jim Mac Apr 2nd, 06, 10:41 PM Paid $100 for mine last year, they are used but not torn, they have been recovered in black cloth and vynle. a guy at the local swap meet had a pair last month for $100 including brand new back plastic thing (seats were cores). but the other 3 pairs out there were going for $250 basically for cores. So the deals are out there just have to get to the swap meets early. JIm
