I have the body work done, car was primed with primer surfacer. Paint shop guy said to go ahead with basecoat, that sealer was not needed. Is this true, or should I put something over the primer? Thanks.

Most urethane type primer surfacers do not need to be sealed before topcoating, what primer and paint are you using? Bob

Right now I am using omni K1 primer surfacer.

wow that's some low dollar primer, laquer I believe. You should definately use a good sealer over this primer. Laquer primers are definately old school technology and I wouldn't expect it to last very long. They take a long time to completely dry then absorb topcoat sovents like a sponge when paint is applied later releasing them through the paint and ruining the gloss. If this car is a keeper then I would definately suggest using higher quality materials, epoxies, urethanes, self etch primer, etc.

OK, I will definitely use something to seal it then. Thanks for your help.
