I'm a newbie here.

I have a (slightly) bent frame under my 65 convertible and thought it might be easier to find a new one, clean it up, then put it in.

Are the (boxed) convertible frames the same as an El Camino frame? I heard that they are.

Thanks,

65Luvr...

Nice Car... The 64-67 El-Camino frames are almost the same. They are slightly longer in the back end of the frame (approx 3 inches). They can be modified to fit perfectly by any skilled frame guy, OR you could get a hardtop frame (4 door or 2) and weld your boxed sections onto it. If it helps. The cutlass, GTO/lemans convertible frames also fit. I believe the GTO/lemans frames are exactly the same as the El-Camino frame.

I have a few questions sbout your car.
Are those Vista rims on your car? How much did you lower it and how? What size rims and what backspacing are you using?

Thanks in advance...
Steve

Cool, thanks for your knowledge.

they are Twisted Vistas 18" front and 19" rear. I can't remember the back spacing. I'll measure in the next few days.

I used the Global West tubular a-arms and the coil overs. I've changed the springs out once already for little shorter, stiffer one and now it's great going fast, but a little "bouncy" going slow. I put the QA-1 shocks on, so I need to try and dial them in a little more. (the Baer brakes came with the big B-body spindles)

For now, I just cut the rear coils. I want to try the Global West springs.
