: Original Paint Color

My '66 SS was originally painted Aztek Bronze and it just not my choice of paint color. I have not seen another '66 with this color and was wondering if I should keep it this color to be different or change it to something more appealing to the eye. It will be awhile before it gets painted and just wanted some opinions. Thanks for a great site!! Chevelles forever....

I like to see these cars restored to original specs, especially if they are pretty much original to begin with. That being said, you should do what makes you happy.

I have a similar situation. My red 70SS originally came without stripes. Almost every red 70SS did get the stripes, so this makes mine unique. The stripes were added by a previous owner in 1995, but I won't be putting them back on when it gets repainted. Even though I like the look with the stripes, it will be more satisfying to have one that's factory correct AND a little bit rare. Just my .02

My 1966 Chevelle was painted the same color when it was my father's. He has had it repainted metallic brown twice. BTW, thank you, I always wonder what the color was when I was growing up.

Sincerely,

Genaro

Well, that says it all. Not your choice of color. Done. Unless you are going the full blown frame off resto. bringing it on the show circuit deal ( who would do that http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif ) then paint it whatever color pleases your little heart. Though it would be nice if you went with one of the many other very nice 66 Chevelle colors...

and BTW, it's AZTEC BRONZE. and it was a fairly common color, not as common as REGAL RED or MARINA BLUE but I see them alot on the show route...

Have fun http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
