: good, better, best!
Derek69SS Mar 28th, 06, 10:04 AM Those Wisconsin Troopers take their speed-traps seriously!
Drive I-90 through MN and you'll see MAYBE one trooper every ~75-100 miles clocking traffic...
Drive I-90 through WI and you'll see a trooper every 10-15 miles
ssal396 Mar 28th, 06, 11:05 AM GOOD: Madison, WI policeman had a perfect spot to watch for speeders, but wasn't getting many. Then he discovered the problem - a 12-year-old boy was standing up the road with a hand painted sign, which read "RADAR TRAP AHEAD". The officer also found the boy had an accomplice who was a bit further down the road with a sign reading "TIPS" and a bucket full of money. (And we used to just sell lemonade!)
BETTER: A motorist was mailed a picture of his car speeding through an automated radar post in La Crosse, WI. A $40 speeding ticket was included. Being cute, he sent the police department a picture of $40. The police responded with another mailed photo of handcuffs.
BEST: A Young woman was pulled over for speeding. A Wisconsin State Trooper walked to her car window, flipping open his ticket book, she said, "I bet you are going to sell me a ticket to the State Trooper's Ball. "He replied, "Wisconsin State Troopers don't have balls." There was a moment of silence. He then closed his book, got back in his patrol car and left.
LMAO, good one..

Especially between Osseo and Eau Claire!!
Olle Mar 28th, 06, 1:20 PM Yeah and they make you pay on the spot. They even take credit cards!
Didn't think it was legal to make people pay on the spot?
madspaniard Mar 28th, 06, 1:36 PM If they make you pay on the spot. Can you have them call your lawyer right there, then they can just write you a parking ticket and save paperwork.
theclencher Mar 28th, 06, 2:32 PM ...And they just LOVE out-of-staters!!!
But it's worth it. Makes me feel all cuddly and safe and warm when I'm over there...
Nothing more important than PUBLIC SAFETY!
theclencher Mar 28th, 06, 3:01 PM HEH HEH, You got that right!!! :beers:
quikss Mar 28th, 06, 5:58 PM The paying on the spot deal must be for out of staters. I have recieved 16 speeding tickets in my 16 years of driving, all in wisconsin, and have never had to pay on the spot.
By the way, a $40 speeding ticket does not exist in Wisconsin either. I believe the least amount a speeding ticket can be issued for is $61. Trust me, I found that out with-in the last year.

Trust me, I found that out with-in the last year. That's pretty cheap! My last one in MN was $145. The cheapest they get is $120 in MN (Olmsted County anyway...)
John D Mar 28th, 06, 8:26 PM Wifey just got popped last Friday in St. Louis Park - 46 in a 30 - on Louisiana Ave., Hennepin County.
$150 bigguns..... and no sense of humor on the Cops - had a dude in the blind-spot/trees with 3 chase cars & good 'ol Motorola.
Is this "profiling"......
theclencher Mar 28th, 06, 9:13 PM I love it when the sanctimonious b*****ds get on the TV with their "Lick it or Stick it" safety belt campaigns. Saving lives??? Riiiiiiight... vilifying the driving public and collecting more revenue... that's more like it.
Just be glad you don't live in Fargo- they set up ROADBLOCKS on a regular basis to nab drunks.
Chris R Mar 29th, 06, 3:38 AM I will say one thing. Wisconsin state troopers have a pretty sweet looking blue color on thier patrol cars. I havent seen it up close (probably a good thing) but they do look nice. Unlike Minnesota's SH&T brown state trooper paint jobs. Who ever decided that one should be tarred and feathered.
The last couple of times I have had to make a trip through Wisconsin, from Mpls/ St. Paul. I took 94 all the way through until 94/90. Cruising with the traffic that was mixed with both MN and WI traffic.... We were doing 85 all the way through without any problems. Sure the traffice slowed down upon sight of a trooper but that was about it. I admit I always have enjoyed driving though Wisconsin.
Derek69SS Mar 29th, 06, 9:37 AM Unlike Minnesota's SH&T brown state trooper paint jobs. Who ever decided that one should be tarred and feathered. When there were still some Caprices being used, those were a nice color - "Dark Cherry Metallic" - same color as my wagon, and a popular color on the '95 & '96 Impala SS's... of course the reflective gold lettering didn't help the look.
The Crown Vic trooper cars are a dark brown, and look like turds. :D I think they go with whatever is available in either brown or dark maroon, because I see the State Patrol's DOT inspection trucks (lettered the same as the trooper cars) are maroon also, so I blame Ford for the ugly brown ;)
tigertown Mar 29th, 06, 11:12 AM Didn't think it was legal to make people pay on the spot?
They can/do in South Carolina ..Its UP to the officer .. So You better be nice or have the $$$
