I'm no pro, but I did buy a '70 El Camino for parts for my '70 Chevelle, and from what I could tell, the body lines were not apparent (or exist for that matter) on the El Camino fender. Hope this helps.

Chevelle fenders are flared at the wheel openings the wagon and el camino fenders are flat on all the 70 thru 72, Marty

7DSS is right. The '70-'72 Passenger cars have a nice body crease about 8 inches down from the top of the fender (look closely at any picture). The el Caminos and Station wagons have the carried-over from '68-'69 plain/smooth/round look. This also means that the fender extensions are different for passenger cars vs s.w./e.c. of the same years. Also, from dumb experience, the parking lamps from '72 passenger cars are smaller than those on s.w./e.c. I'm gonna guess the same would be true for '71s as well. I've still got an original '72 amber passenger lens because I didn't know there'd be a difference. redface.gif
