I have an 81 chevelle parts car.(I know,so what).? is,is the steering gear box any different or better than the one in my 72 402 elcamino? thanks alot.

If you have the 4+ turns lock to lock in your 72 than yes it is a little different. It is a quicker ratio. It also has "O" ring fittings so you would need to use the fitting from the back of the pump in the 72 also if you decide to use it. Better is subjective some prefer the quicker ratio some don't.

The 81 box has metric fittings, so you will need custom PS hoses, or a metric fitting on the pump. It could have a tighter ratio that your 72, but its probably pretty close.
