I am looking for a Holley carb, was thinking about the 750 DP, but found this 780 with vacuum sec. on Ebay.

I'm looking for opinions on the carb feedback on buying it through Ebay, also it's worth?

69SS, are you trying for a period correct carb, or just a 750 DP, any era?

Hi Johhny O,

Not looking for for a period correct carb necesarily. I thought it may be an alternative to a 750 DP. I am mostly driving on the street with a few trips to the track each summer. I certainly appreciate performance over economy.

Do you have a preference between the two? 750 Dp (4150), or the 780 (3310)?

Thanks,

I have a several 3310's on cars right now. I have really liked them for street cars and just stuck with them. I have not tried a double pumper, mostly because I have no reason to think it may help any of my cars. I have used just about every brand of carb.

I ran a carb identical to the one in that auction on a 383 and was very happy with its function. I built it myself though, it is not one from the same person.

When I grab carbs I try to get them for $100 in good working order. I would say that an original '65 3310 is likely going to be worth a little more, the one in the auction even more because of it's condition. I'd bet 150 to 200 for that one. Personally, I'd just get a non-period carb and not pay the premium.

I dont have a preference really, it depends on the application. I am thinking about buying one from this guy, I would recommend giving him a call and talking to him, very nice guy and very knowledgeable too, I learned quite a bit. Just thought this might help make your decision. John
