today i pulled the heads off of my 67 chevelle 396 with is a 360hp out of a 66, and the engine has been bored .040, so what is the cubic inch size after the bore? also how do you tell how many cc's your heads are?

CI is about 404. As for the heads what castings? That will tell you what the factory said. If you want to know for sure you have to have them cc'd.

i do not have the heads at my house and this is a picture of the and the 6-8 digit # is not pictured, but i do not remeber the # even being there. is the M TRUCK a bad thing?

From the pic it looks like that's cylinders 6 & 8 or 1 & 3. The casting # on mine is between 2 & 4 or 5 & 7, other end of head. The 'truck' thing is not a good thing but it all depends on what you plan on doing with the engine and how you'll drive it. If they're the small 'peanut port' heads you don't want to build a race engine with them. If you want a nice driveable street engine they'll be ok.

Don't worry about "TRUCK" if the intake ports are taller than they are wide!!

That just means that you have regular large ovals and are fine!!

PS., fwiw, peanut port heads intake ports are wider than they are tall!!

Those look like rectangular port heads. You really need to get the casting # to know for sure what you have.

so will these do fine for a small street build around 450hp?

From the date code it looks like they might be '69 840s or 291s. In any case I think you got yourself a good set of heads.

Those are most likely large oval port heads from a 427 truck motor. Same port and valve sizes, except the chambers are larger for lower compression. Your 396 may be down in the 9.0/1 or less compression. Get the real casting numbers

so this is going to bring the hp down from the stock hp with the orginal heads?
