I recently had my chevelle repainted. The original cowl weatherstripping was damaged when it was removed to paint the cowl. I purchased a new weatherstrip and installed it. It sits just in front of the cowl and under ther back part of the hood to keep the heat from the engine getting into the cowl vents and into the interior of the car. The problem is that with the new weatherstrip the hood doesn't sit flush with the fenders anymore. It sits up on the one side nearly a quarter inch above the fender. Any thoughts on how to correct this problem.

take it off and get a softer one, I dont remember if it was metro or soft seal but I had the same problem. I found a good used one .

ALL the aftermarket ones seem to have the same problem, I used a heatgun and heated it up real good and closed the hood, pushing down on the corners. Not perfect yet but much better than it was. Mike

The Metro seal is the better one. Softer...
