I am looking at buying a 2 1/2" cowl induction hood, I am not sure if I should get a fiberglass or steel hood!!!! I know the glass hood will lighten up the front end but I have heard they do not do well with flexing when on the freeway. however I do not mind going with a steel hood, but I want to make sure which one will be better!!!!!

It's really personal preference and what will the car be used for. If total race car on diet definately glass. Anything else it doesn't matter. Just a difference in durability and weight.

I just bought a goodmark cowl hood for my 68 and it is awsome. The workman ship is great. I can't wait to get it painted. It also fits great. It cost $455 with tax. It steel and i'm glad i went with it instead of fiberglass. The hood is 2in but if you measure it its about 3in. They measure it at the back of the hood but 68 and 69 hoods go up at the rear so its diseaving when they say its 2in.

i have a 4" Harwood for my 71 and it is only 20lbs lighter than the stock steel hood. i would go with a steel hood if i were you. the only way a F/G hood would greatly decrease weight is if you went with a pin-on type. my Harwood is a bolt on, but i wanted more of a cowl than any of the steel hoods give you, otherwise i would've went with the steel hood.

Not trying to hijack your thread, but I have a '69 bolt on that I'd like to get rid of. Hood looks straight and fits great, I'm going back to original. E-mail me if you'd like.
