Does anyone know if the rear tail panel on a 67 SS only came in black, or did some come from the factory with the body color? I know that the 66 SS's came body color and I have seen a few 67 that have been painted body color by their owners! Just curious cause I'm thinking of painting mine the same color as the body! You can search the old archives for a lot of discussions on this but what from I've gathered, most were black but a few were body color. It just depends on what the factory decided to do that day...

67 Chevelle SS cars came from the factory with Black, to match front grill, rear cove panel. That has never been debated to my knowledge. I have never personally seen any 67's with a body color rear panel from the factory.

66's also came from the factory with a rear Black panel very early in the 66 production year, original GM literature shows this very clearly as do many Survivor cars. GM changed it to body color not too long after production started due to increased cost/time issues. It was however re-introduced very late in the production year as the factories were gearing up/retooling for the 67 SS, which was to get and did, the full rear cove blacked out.

Hope that helps, but as Rick said, a search should turn up similar discussions, but that would be for 66's, I don't recall any 67 topics about rear panels here.

Your choice, do it how you like.
