I'm trying to get my dash all spiffy but my vent deflectors flop around. Is there a way to fix them so they open and close properly? I've looked at a few catalogs can only find them in Year One for about $80 for the pair and I don't want to spend that kinda money if I can fix mine. Is there a kit to fix them maybe? Please help. Thanks.

I tightened one of mine up by putting some thin self-adhesive black felt on the vent housing - the flaps snug against the felt. Invisible if done right. One of these days I'll get to the other one.

I just went thru the same thing. If your talking about the whole assembly, do what Mark suggested. Actually the housing origionally had a thin strip of weatherstripping on the top and bottom right in the front. This will put just enough pressure on the vent assembly to keep it from flopping around. I found some that was 1/4" thick at Home Depot. Using an excato knife I cut it into so it would not be so wide. The 1/4" thick was very snug, but when I got the housing back togeather it made a very nice fit.

If you are talking about the fins or blades in the assembly itself, thats another thing. Mine were the same way. They kinda worked but if you turned them a certain way they would lock and one or two of them would lean over. When I took the assembly out of the housing I could see that the fins were held in place by some little fingers that are molded into the assembly. I suppose if the fingers are still there you could try and glue them in place. Mine were totally missing and I never got them fixed to my satisfaction. I got another set from a guy locally that worked properly, but most of the chrome was gone. After trying several different finishes, I gave up and bought new ones. I was glad I did after I got them installed. All the work I had done to the dash was really set off by the new chrome. Best money I've spent yet.
