are these recommended to be repaired by a novice? Or is it just a time consuming repair anybody can do? 68 chevelle coupe doors

I have a spare set of hinges which I had blasted.I actually hit the pin on one a couple of times.I will now grind the old pins to be removed easier. I would use a cutoff wheel to clean up the pins, then tap them out. It was too late tonight-I had already powered down the shop, and didnt like the idea of pounding away at the hinges.

It's an easy repair. Pop the pins out, push the bushing out, replace bushings, apply grease, re-attach door with new pins. Kit's are available just about anywhere and you are probably looking at $10 for a kit.

Have someone else handy to hold/balance the door and and place a floor jack (with padding) under the door. As an extra caution, you may want to put a dbl coat of masking tape on the fender edge and the door edge to prevent any  boo-boo's.

Hope it helps

The pins hold the two hinge pieces together so once you drive the pins out the pieces seprate.
The door comes off.
Just unbolt the door from the hinge. Then you can rebuild the hinge still attached to the car.
Much easier to rebuild the hinges with the door out of the way. You might also find that you need the roller assembly
