I ermoved the carpet. Scraped up the larger roofing shingle looking things. But it's left a nasty residue behind.
What do folks use, just simple mineral spirits or something like that?

what i did was striped the whole interior, threw some gas on the floorboard and set it on fire, had a fire extingisher handy.... just kidding. I just used an air dremil tool with a wire brush on it. Went through a lot of wire brushes. Make sure what ever you decide to do that you wear the proper glasses and or maskes.

I used regular old mineral spirits (available at any hardware store and it's very inexpensive). Saturated an old rag and with very little effort, all that sticky black residue came right up. Just did mine this last weekend...
Good Luck!

Thanks. I'll try mineral spirits and move onto something stronger if neccessary.

mine had what looked like roofing tar sealing the corigated tin patches. i went at it with a scraper until it was a thin coat then sprayed it with wd40 and that took care of it bit messy though.

I've heard dry ice or liquid nitrogen works well. Once the sound deadner is frozen solid it comes off in big sheets.

laquer thinner works the greatest although it very dangerous fume wise id say there is nothing better do it outside and also do not use no droplight at all in the car when working also dont let it get neer your exterior paint mineral spirits will work also its not as strong as laquer thinner but it is safer ... but if done with laquer thinner it the floor will accept paint alot better
