I just put in a 4 core radiator in my '66 chevelle replacing my 2 core. My question is how close should the radiator be to the water pump fan? Right now there is about 3/4 inch space.

Long pump or short, big or small block and do you have a shroud? Also are you using a clutch fan?

I have a SB 327 ci with no fan shroud and clutch fan. Would these items help?

The clearance sounds good, but I would look into a fan shroud. A shroud will keep you engine running a little cooler.

3/4" and no shroud is good, if you run a shroud the fan blades should be 1/2 way in (or out) of the opening. Putting a shroud on and leaving your fan where it is will be of no benefit. The shroud acts like a funnel allowing the fan to pull air in across a larger area of the radiator.
