Im ordering a brake conversion kit for my 69 chevelle with drum brakes. The dealer asked me if I want 9 inch or 11 inch. Anyone have input on that choice.

Bigger is better for stopping power however you will have to ask yourself some questions 1) Do you plan to run the stock SS 14" wheel? It WILL NOT fit under most all aftermarket brake set-ups. 2) Sometimes finding pads and rotors can be a pain as well. Stock components (or similiar) can almost always be had at parts stores.

I guess you mean 9" or 11" booster. 11" is standard, and gives you more brake boost than a 9". The only reason I can see to use a 9" would be if you have any clearance issues, a BB with tall valve covers would be a pretty typical example. 11" works on all cars in stock configuration, as far as I know anyway.

Hey Olle, I Dont Know What He Meant. However, Funny You Should Mention The Engine, Because That Is Exactly What Is Being Put In My Car, A 454 With Tall Valve Covers.

The question about booster vs. BB/tall valve covers seems to come up on a regular basis but the details will depend on your engine specs (which valve cover you use, tall deck block etc). If no one else chimes in, you might want to search the forum to see if anyone with your combo has any specific info on clearance issues and which booster to use.
