: One last try before I shoot myself over trying to post attachments of Elky
2BlueLS6's Mar 21st, 06, 8:11 PM Damn frustrating process. Seems like there'd be some simple/idiot proof way to post pics without being a computer geek. (I absolutely hate computers and the damn illogical paths that the geeks design into em to make em unnecessarily complicated with no logical path whatsoever to follow)
anyhow:
Finally got a little more stuff back on the Elky. When I got this car in the 80's sheet metal was still available from GM and since the body was totally rust free except for very small bubbles in the front fenders, I bought them both from GM. Now that it's painted and most of the emblems are back on, I can't make myself put the El Camino emblems back on the front fenders or the fenderwell mouldings on, and the trim around the door glasses are in jeopardy also. I know LS6's with the original drivetrains oughta be dead original, but at least it's easy to add later.

2BlueLS6's Mar 21st, 06, 8:15 PM Trying one more. Suicide or throwing computer off handrail into lake still a distinct possibility.

ChaosMalibu Mar 21st, 06, 8:20 PM What? What is this???
I don't see any pictures of an El-Camino....
Anybody sees anything??
Is that a gun i hear?
;) :D hehe
I can see the pictures of the Blue elky.. don't worry.. :D
2BlueLS6's Mar 21st, 06, 8:41 PM My blood pressure's doin' about like gas prices...................... shot WAY up almost instantly and is VERY SLOWLY coming back down.
BB68 Mar 21st, 06, 8:53 PM I agree about posting pics and the elky emblems, but I love wheel well moldings. They give a more finished look.
Ark68SS Mar 21st, 06, 8:57 PM Please put me in your will as the sole beneficiary of the Elky before you do anything!! I'll take really good care of it & finish it when you're gone. :D I think I saw a front & rear view of a real nice El Camino in your posts, but I'm not sure--how about some more?

Suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. You don't have to be a geek, just ask one. There are plenty on this board!
2BlueLS6's Mar 21st, 06, 9:36 PM Both my son and daughter have degrees in information systems (daughter has master's in it and probably gonna get PHD). Neither one understand my impatience/frustration with the merry go round I often find myself in, but I just wanna hit "post" and be done with it instead of tryin' to remember mulitiple steps that don't seem to follow any logic. (did I mention that I hate computers?)
One other question while we're off car topics............... how do you place the ikons (faces) at random places in the post instead of just up at the top?
chevyfiedRAT Mar 21st, 06, 9:48 PM don't worry i have a problem right now with people on another board talking about cams, i'm thinking camshafts, till i read the post, its camcorders. i feel old yet only 20. as for posting i do the same thing, i don't know how to post pictures on the site, but i can post a URL, and thats what i will do instead its easier and doesn't take so long to load either.
hep1966 Mar 21st, 06, 10:07 PM Make sure that you have the Standard Editor selected in your User CP Miscellaneous Options settings. I don't know what the default is for this board but some other boards default to the Basic Editor format.
DZAUTO Mar 21st, 06, 10:46 PM I totally agree!!!!!! For that very same reason I have completely given up on ever trying to post pictures anymore.
And I don't have a darn clue what John just said!!!!!!!!

The smileys are placed from the editors button bar at the top of the editor. You need to have your default editor set to the "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing" in User CP/Edit Options.
Now one for you.... How did you get your pictures thumb nailed within your first posts? I thought that feature was just for showroom pictures.
Chris R Mar 22nd, 06, 2:11 AM I wish I was lucky enough to get my hands on a real LS6 El Camino. I would way rather have that over the Chevelle personally. You just dont see those every day. You got yourself a real sweet car there but you probably knew that already.
Is there a breakdown on how many EC were equipped with the LS6 over the Chevelle?
Cam Sweet Mar 22nd, 06, 8:33 AM Jeez, I don't ever seem to have a problem. Hmmmmm... maybe I'm one of "them"....

hep1966 Mar 22nd, 06, 8:36 AM There are 2 blue toolbars near the top of this webpage.
Right click on User CP.
Then click on Open in New Window. This will allow you to check your settings and refer back to the other window to see these instructions.
Now you have the Control Panel open. The control panel is simply your preferences for viewing/editing while on this particular website.
The fourth option down on the left side is Edit Options - click on it.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page.
In the Miscellaneous Options section you will see 2 drop down boxes. You need to check your setting in the Message Editor Interface area. If you have Basic Editor selected it is very difficult to add links, pictures, etc unless you are very familiar with html. Click on the dropdown box and select the Standard Editor option.
Then click on Save Changes.
From now on, when you start a post or reply to one, you will find many more options available to you. Posting pictures, links, etc will be easy.
I need to take my son to school now. When I get back, I will post instructions on how to post a picture.
hep1966 Mar 22nd, 06, 9:40 AM OK, so now you want to post a picture.
Make sure that you have the Standard Editor enabled.
Also make sure that you already have the image hosted on another website. One of my personal websites is kookycharacters (http://kookycharacters.com/index.html). There are many free sites available for hosting pictures.
So I have this window open and I have my website open in another window.
I'm going to post a picture of my beautiful 1948 Jawa Perak cycle. The pictures are here. (http://kookycharacters.com/gpage9.html) So, I have the pictures of the cycle up on my other screen.
Right click on the image that you want to post.
Select properties.
Copy the Address (URL) information. For my picture it is "http://kookycharacters.com/images/Jawa/j1.JPG"
Come back to Chevelles.com and click on the Insert Image icon. It is a square with triangles in it.
You get a popup window with some text highlighted in blue. Delete the text already in the box and replace it with the text copied a couple steps above. So now I have "http://kookycharacters.com/images/Jawa/j1.JPG" in the text box of the popup window. Click OK.
You will now see some brackets with IMG and /IMG, between the brackets is the URL for the picture. I usually make sure that the entire IMG line, with the brackets and all text, is on its own line. If you do not do this, your picture may be pushed off to the side. By having the IMG line standing alone, the picture will be directly under or above any text you have typed in.
Click Submit Reply or Preview Post and see what shows up. Here is my 1948 Jawa Perak.

BB68 Mar 22nd, 06, 5:03 PM :beers: AWESOME thanks for the lesson hep1966.
2BlueLS6's Mar 24th, 06, 7:29 PM Now one for you.... How did you get your pictures thumb nailed within your first posts? I thought that feature was just for showroom pictures.
I was foolin' around with Image Shack hosting and used it to put em there. Talk about the blind hog gettin' the cornhttp://www.chevelles.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gifhttp://www.chevelles.com/forums/images/icons/icon10.gif
I still want to do it the way Hep1966 has it done, but it's not workin' for me yet. Maybe another try or 2.
