I am about to order a new rear. I have the choice beween Eaton Posi or a Tru Trac Limited slip. Why is the Eaton a posi and the Tru Trac called a limited slip? Which one would ya'll pick?
I think I'm gonna get a Moser 12 bolt. I was gonna get a S-60 Until the guy said I'd have to shorten my driveshaft, grind my backing plates, and I don't think the 1/2 inch studs would fit my wheels.
I had wanted a detroit locker but I don't think Moser offers those. I think the 12 bolt will use less power but I'm not sure how much difference there is.
Thanks ahead of time for any help/opinions .----:)- Josh

The Eaton posi is a limited slip. Posi is Eatons trade mark name for their limited slip differential.

If you want a Moser 12 bolt with a Detroit Locker then Moser should be able to build it that way. If they can't then send me an email.

Moser does offer the detroit locker, I myself was looking at getting the tru trac unit in a complete new rearend from moser, should be ordering it this summer. They definately were confident in this tru trac though and said it would handle what ever I gave it, and I was telling them it woul be close to 1,000hp.

I have the Dana "Strange" S-60 with the Detriot locker...I am uncertain I made the right decision on the Locker!! I dont race the car and the locker acts alot more like a spool than a rear that can "Slip" through the turns. Its fine with a light throttle turn, but any amount of throttle, (like pulling into traffic) and she locks up and throws you straight. (even with wheels turned). Man at Strange Engineering talked me into it! He said it would act just like a posi unit! Yes some trimming of backing plates is req'd. No big deal your driveshaft guy will do it for $30.00 for the pair or less! Shorten shaft is $45.00 and rebalance of shaft is $50. Hope this helps
