Scrapped undercoating and laquered thinered floor pans and firewall and everthing else. Got my POR 15 and read don't paint over paint. Got the Marine Clean and was going to paint floor pans, firewall,A arms, frame, etc.wich already have paint and and have very little rust. Thought this stuff would stick to anything and everything. Will the POR 15 semi gloss stick or should I be looking for something like Eastwood chassiscote black spray cans ? I don't have solid rust or bare metal.Open for sugestions. Thanks Steve

I have used POR-15 all over my car during the restoration, some areas it was just not possible to get stripped down to bear metal. So far I have not had any POR-15 flake off or show signs of deterioration on the car (other than where some brake fluid dripped.). I do think that you lose the real advantage of the POR if you dont put it on metal directly, but it is still better than nothing or just regular paints IMO.

I've used the POR15 products alot.I think if you use them over reg. painted areas you are probably wasting your money.I would just use some of Eastwoods stuff then.My .02 graemlins/waving.gif

I posted some pictures of a battery tray I coated with Por four years ago. So far, there is not even the slightest hint of peeling or flaking. But it is best when applied over bare metal.

If I remember right, MartinSenour (sic) was going to do a test of POR. Did he ever post the results?

I painted the bottom part of the rockers on a PU daily driver 2 winters ago. There was a little bit of rust so I wire wheeled it and POR'd it. Now, it has completely peeled off and is even worse than it would be if I'd used normal painting processes to fix it. The whole sales pitch about the rust not being able to get under it is false.

Now, it's a good brush-on coating for parts with low exposure to the environment. I would use it on some parts for my restoration where I don't want to get the gun out but I doupt I would spend the money for it to paint the floors of my car with it.
