Some of the screw holes on the dash pad on my '70 are stripped out and don't hold the pad down. Anybody have experience repairing the holes? If so, how?

Doug, I've had some luck with small plastic retainers that are similiar to the plastic clips that hold your license plates on only smaller. I make the hole big enough for the clip to fit then epoxy it to the pad.

I'll see if I have any in my tool box so we can get that pad straightened out.

Second T-Man's solution. That's what I did and they work fine.

What kind of epoxy?

I used drywall anchors. These are the kind that are a conical plastic part that goes into a 3/16 drilled hole. I glue them in with weatherstrip adhesive and let them set a day to cure. The original dash pad screws work ok with the plastic anchors.

Thanks for the ideas. I haven't had time to try it yet.

I have used epoxy in the holes and then screwed the screw in with some mold releasing agent applied to the threads of the screw. Once the epoxy dries I simply unscrew the screw out.
