NOZ34ME Oct 27th, 04, 12:47 PM Thanks; I'm pretty happy with it. Last time I went up the front end had been wet sanded. I'm putting the mounting hardware, lights, license brackets etc. back on new bumpers now to get up to the shop for re-install. I'll try to post some new photos as I can.
JC70SS Oct 27th, 04, 1:12 PM  NIIICEE! Very nice.
Dan Orgill Oct 27th, 04, 2:13 PM You should be very happy with it! I just love any kind of maroon colour on a car.

baddbob71 Oct 27th, 04, 10:15 PM Looks nice. Judging from the images caught in the reflection it looks to be nice and straight. Should look awesome after the sand and buff. What product was applied? Bob

Almost positive it's DuPont. Body was stripped (what was left of it) to bare metal, etch primer, sealer, 3 coats of base and 3 of clear I believe is correct.
Quarters and fenders are new replacements; originals were too far gone. They found pieces of plexiglass and license plates in the original rear quarters holding the bondo in.
Body shop is recommending putting the wheel well moldings on. I'm thinking about it- - I really like the clean look down the sides- - not planning on replacing the trim pieces that ran down the sides, so maybe the wheel well moldings would look good. Opinions?
Hot66ss Oct 28th, 04, 4:37 AM I vote yes on the wheel well moldings! very nice car!
Redmanf1 Oct 28th, 04, 4:47 AM Sharp, I have always liked black cherry. Nice job, Congrats
baddbob71 Oct 28th, 04, 8:00 AM Definately put the wheel opening mouldings on IMO. All the trim on these cars adds eye candy not available on todays cars, a well detailed car with good trim and wheels always catches my eye.
68Phoenix Oct 28th, 04, 10:42 AM Nice car. Great color. If I ever get a job in College Station TX that might just be the color I choose. I have a 68 without any side trim and the more I look at 68's, the more I think that the side moldings really add to the look. If I'm ever able to get my car ready for new paint, I think I'll have the molding holes pre-drilled and afterwards put the trim on. I like wheel well moldings too. They'll protect your paintjob and look good, what could be wrong with that?
Dan Orgill Oct 28th, 04, 12:22 PM Put the wheel well mouldings on. They look very sharp and I think you'll be very pleased.
NOZ34ME Oct 28th, 04, 2:05 PM Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'll be putting wheel well moldings on my Christmas wish list.
Got most of the interior pieces sitting on my pool table, and in the basement ready to install.
Got to sloooooooow down on the spending tho- - -
New68SS Oct 28th, 04, 4:44 PM I don't think the wheel well moldings were an option on the '68s. But, I agree with the other guys...it should have been and they look much better with em.
Nice ride BTW!! Love that color!
vonswanko Oct 28th, 04, 9:33 PM Love it. graemlins/hurray.gif Its about the same color as my chevy II.

Nice ride BTW!! Love that color! You're right! They weren't an option on the '68's. Probably because the 68's had the trim that ran the length of the side. Since I'm not a fan of that trim, I think the wheel well moldings will work.
67ss Oct 29th, 04, 10:55 PM man I like that color.Do you have the codes for it?Where in VA you from?

The 69 wheelwell moldings would really compliment the car IMHO...

My car is an original black cherry car,and its a lot lighter (pic in sig)

My car is an original black cherry car,and its a lot lighter (pic in sig) Saw the picture of your car, and mine is darker. I know the color chips in the book were darker than your car as well. I have no explanation.
I like your color tho- - -

Bo6869ChevelleMan Nov 4th, 04, 10:56 AM Nice looking paint job ! I bought my 68 in Greenville two years ago and drove he back home. Its in black primer now, but I wont see paint for a few years yet because my El Camino gets painted first next summer because its my daiy driver. I really liked Virginia and Tennesse. I would move their in a heartbeat but the wife wont leave here. Are you certain that was Dupont paint ? What was it called ,what line? Chroma ? Find out from your paint guy if you will please. Is your 68 auto.? On floor or column ? I converted mine from auto. on column to auto. on floor with original horseshoe shifter and orig. console and I am very much pleased with it. Youve got a SHARPPPPPP LOOKING CAR !!! Mark

It's a DuPont product, code B9210. I thought it was called black cherry, but it's actually dark cherry. It's a stock GM mid 90's color.
I'm also converting from column to floor shift. Picked up a used console & shifter off ebay a few months ago.
Thanks for the positive comments.
BUDS1970 Nov 4th, 04, 12:38 PM I agree with everyone else. That is one TUFF looking car.I've been trying to decide what color to paint my '70 for a while now and that picture made up my mine.It won't be ready for paint til next year though.I've got a '70 that I saved from a slow suffering death at the back edge of an old cow field.Body work is done, front end is almost put together, engine is ready to come out for a rebuild.I'm from Mt. jackson, which is right in the middle of the Shenandoah valley, not far from Waynesboro.Nice to hear from somebody close by.
Bo6869ChevelleMan Nov 4th, 04, 11:59 PM Thanks Alot NOZ34ME for replying with that information for us. Would it be too much trouble to ask you to get the product numbers and post them on here of the etch primer and the sealer and the clear coat that was used to do your Chevelle ? I think that would be very helpful to alot of us and I know I myself and others would appreciate that very much. Take lots of pics. of your Chevelle and even a video of it if you can because youll love looking back at that for years to come. Did you get a shifter conversion kit for your Chevelle yet ? Shiftworks has everything you need to do a conversion from auto. on column to auto. on floor.I got mine from there and was pleased with everything. Thanks, Mark
bluechevelless Nov 5th, 04, 12:33 AM I wanna see some more pictures of it when you get some of things back on.
