The rear bumper on my 71SS has some very small (size of a pinhead) rust spots. There are lots of them. I have tried all sorts of chrome cleaners, including using real fine steel wool lubricated with a chrome cleaner-with no positive results. A friend said to try a product call Flitz (www.flitz.com). Has anyone ever used this product and do you think it would help with my "oxidation spots". Thanks for any response.

used a flitz cloth to shine brass back in service days. i believe its just metal polish like brasso et al. if the rust has surfaced, must mean chome is gone there. i don't think it can be like new unless replated.

Flitz is the best metal cleaner/polish I have ever used!!! I had the same problem with my bumpers...a few small rust spots and the bumpers had a film of oxidation on them. Came out looking brand new. Use some #0000 steel wool and a little elbow grease and the rust spots will come right off. You have to go over it a few times with a soft cloth to buff off all the Flitz residue but it is well worth the time. I used it on my AC lines too and all the aluminum fittings came out with a chrome like finish. Same thing goes for my brake lines. Click the links below for a few pics of my front bumper. The lower part is untouched, and the upper part is after using the Flitz.
