I have heard that "broach marks" on a block's stamp pad are a pretty good indicator that it has not been restamped. What do they look like? I have a picture of the stamp pad from my '71 402 I'd be happy to email to anyone who would be able and willing to tell me whether or not there are broach marks present (I haven't yet firgured out how to attach an image in a post).
Thanks!

Halls,
When you start, or reply to a post, down at the bottom, below the window that you type in, is a button for "manage attachments". That is where you add pictures. You should be able to edit your own post and add the picture. Or do a reply and add the picture.

Does not look like it has been surfaced from what I can see. Its probably the original deck finish.

Thanks a lot, Bill. I suspected as much but wasn't sure what I was looking for. This is a '71 SS that had been parked in a Texas carport since 1984 and only showed 114,000 miles, so I thought it might be an original un-machined block.
