Big discounts on Passats that are NOS. $38,000 list, $32K clearout. They only have a couple left. A couple of diesels, and a couple of awd's with the 1.8 turbo. Dealer says about 50 mpg's {4.54 litre Canadian gallon} with the automatic, 55mpg's with the 5 speed, and about 40 for the awd 1.8T. The '06's do not come in diesel. How does a guy find out dealer invoice? Are there free sites, or do you have to cough up?
Also looked at S60 awd Volvos. Drop dead gorgeous! But man, they want $1300 bucks for the 2 year, 160K extended warranty {Canadian}. The '02 has 3000 km's of factory warranty left, and then the 150 point comprehensive inspection gets you another year, or 80,000km's. Then the two extra years kick it up at the 13 hun extra. I think the dealer told me $26.5K for a loaded leather seat black on black with 57K km's. A little expensive, I thought. As well, the S60 won't get more than 28 mpg {US}
I bought a 'Lemonade' book, and the Audi A4's come out pretty good, but they don't deal with S60's. Lemonade was really hard on VW's from a customer satisfaction standpoint. Hard to believe this started with a drive in a Pontiac AWD Vibe.

I think you moved up a bit in your selections. I still plan on taking a drive in a Caliber. I see the Jeeps are now 0% for 60 months and no payments till October.

Ya, Rod, 0 for 60 is sweet, but the Jeep is a pig unless you get that diesel. I looked at one, and if I was in the market for a Jeep, I'd give it a hard look. I think I gotta give up on the S60 because it ain't gonna milepergallon like I need to. Maybe a used RAV 4. The VW just scares me, because everyone that buys them, sells them, even 60 mpg diesels. Why is that?

Not sure about people selling the diesel, we have over 300 000 on our Jetta and just want a newer car. Not sure the price of diesel warrants the extra cost of one now. Hard to find one under $30 000 new and the Jeep diesel I looked at was $38 000.

Isn't the caliber just the new Neon? I read in consumer reports that it is taking the neon's place.
