: Check out my new tubular rear lower control arms I just made!!!
scotty Mar 16th, 06, 10:41 PM I just made a new set of fully adjustable lower control arms for my Chevelle. They are stronger and lighter then any readily available for about half the price!! Much lighter then stock boxed. I love fabbing!

Daren71 Mar 16th, 06, 11:12 PM scotty, what kind of tubing is that? And just a stupid comment, but will the rod ends be tigged, or migged in place? They look good, now you just need 8 spacers to take up the missing space from the old control arms. Did you get the material from a speedway shop? Daren
scotty Mar 16th, 06, 11:19 PM The tubing is Chromoly 4130, the ends are Chromoly 4130 Teflon lined rod ends. I got the stuff locally. I will be tig welding them tomorrow.
Daren71 Mar 16th, 06, 11:37 PM scotty, post a pic when you get them installed, they look great. Daren
scotty Mar 18th, 06, 8:19 PM I finished them. I also weighed them arm to arm.
Stock boxed lower control are - 6.2 lbs. each
4130 Tubular - 3.6 lbs. each

ejrempel Mar 18th, 06, 10:44 PM Nice.
bri2203 Mar 18th, 06, 11:41 PM Some people box the lower conntrol arms to help eliminate wheel hop or for better traction.
How do these double adjustable arms compare traction wise?
Brian
scotty Mar 19th, 06, 12:11 AM You cannot get a better control arm then these for strength and adjustably. You can adjust to your needs. That is why I went this route.
Alwhite00 Mar 19th, 06, 9:28 AM Look great, What about the sway bar mounting points?
LK
scotty Mar 19th, 06, 11:41 AM I did not put provisions for sway bar on the arms, I will be using a real anti roll bar instead of a sway bar.
artmalibu Mar 19th, 06, 12:20 PM What are you using for spacers? Making or buying?
scotty Mar 19th, 06, 1:16 PM I am making spacers out of tubing .
TT402LS1 Mar 21st, 06, 11:07 AM I was looking at Wolfe Race Craft www.wolferacecraft.com. Are you going to be running a anti roll bar like that? I was thinking of going that way myself, but dont know how that would be on the street.
Nice job on the bars! With the job you did on the turbos, I bet this was a peice of cake for you! - Ron
scotty Mar 21st, 06, 6:40 PM Ya, little stuff like the arms, is super easy to make.
A wolf bar is not made to turn. Meaning road race. In my protouring car, it has to turn as fast is is goes straight(REALLY FAST) I will be using a bar that is not so stiff. The car will attach to the 12 bolt with the rod ends going to the frame rails.
TT402LS1 Mar 21st, 06, 7:34 PM could you explain in greater detail? Not really following you here. How is it differnt from the Wolfe design?
scotty Mar 21st, 06, 8:26 PM Same basic design as there camaro kit, but with a more flexible torsion tube.
