is there anywhere i can buy chrome vents for the side quater panel lights. they are on the side of the car... i've seen them on another 71-72 and i don't know if they are custom or not. Also are there any sort of clips i can put on the blinkers to make my 72 look like a 71? i saw them on another car which the owner said was a 72 but just had those front blinker clips to make it look like a 71.

The quarter running light covers are pot metal I don't know if someone is making them in chrome but I'm sure yhou could have them chrome plated. The turn signal cages for 71 and 72 are interchangable, that is how he did it. Just get a set of 71 lenses and covers and pop them in. But why? Not a big difference between the two.

i didn't know those side running lights were made of pot metal, it looked like chrome so i just guessed. I like the overall look of the 71-72 chevelles so i was going to buy either a 71 or 72... i bought a 72. i was just wondering if i could make it look like a 71 since i THINK i like the 71 blinkers better(they are the only noticeable difference to me)... still have to do some thinking about it tho. thanks for your help... by the way do you know of anybody selling the pot metal side lights?

NPD and OPG have them if I'm not mistaken. They also have the complete 71 turn signal assemblies but you'd be better off if you could score a set from someone parting a car. The running lights have a plastic lens piece that is on the inside of the trunk. The exterior piece has two studs that go thru the body, through the interior lens and have two nuts on them to secure them into place holding the entire assembly together. BTW, the grill on the 71 is different from the 72 also.

The grille, turn signal lenses and bezels, AND the headlight bezels are all different from 71 to 72. I own a 71 Chevelle and a 72 Elky. I like the 71 front end better than the 72 so I changed it over. The 72 grille was cracked pretty bad also.... That, and I had the extra parts (grille and headlight bezels) in my collection of flea market finds. Keep in mind that if you own a Chevelle....you need to use Chevelle turn signal lenses and bezels ONLY!!!! El Camino and station wagon's use different ones. They angle inwards a bit.
