I am replacing the front drums on my '66 Malibu w/disc brakes from a '72 Chevelle.....was just going to use the master and no booster.......where can i get the shorter pushrod for the dual reservoir master cylinder?

I believe the manual master has a deeper "hole" than the power. You should be able to shorten the rod an make it work, but the question without having the two side by side is 'how much?'. Anyway, sounds like you solved it.
