: Oil Dip Stick Color Codes

Does anyone have any information regarding the color codes for oil dip sticks handles ?? I have a Chevelle Restoration book that has some specific information regarding this, but not all. For instance, 396 ci for '66, the dip stick handle was painted yellow.

I have a '72 350 Ci with 175hp. I scraped a little of the black paint off mine that someone did and there is a bright green under that.

Does anyone know if green is the correct color ??

Thank in advance.

If that is the kind of info. that book is providing you, I'd use it to house break a puppy. 66 and 67 SS Chevelle oil dip stick featured a salmon colored button on the oil dip stick handle, the loop in the handle was flat and unpainted as was the rest of the stick.

Sorry no info on the other years, but hopeully you can see that YELLOW info. is soo wrong, that I would just stick to the book known as TEAM CHEVELLE! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

I don't know what's right, but I always paint my dip stick loop yellow. I think it looks cool.

From "day one", the dipstick loop was unpainted and the button was black on my 350 small block.
