Flourescent and lots of them. My halogen lights look yellow when turned on and suck juice at 600watts a pair.

Dont use halogen lights when you spray if you do have halogens, its a time bomb waiting to happen.

Halogens also cast nice shadows on what you are working on which can make it hard to see what ya doing.

Thanks all, I guess I will go buy some more of the 40Watt 4 footers, is that enough if I have two sets of them in a single bay?

You need white walls and the lights mounted at the wall ceiling junction on an angle. The lights should go almost the whole length of the side walls continuously. Ideally, I'd want at least 3 2-tube 4 footers along each side wall with 4 being even better. For painting, you also really need lights about 3' up the wall.

If your going to work in a cold shop.Get the "cold start"type flouresents.Check with an electrical supply house for them..You will GLAD you did.I bought 8'ers for about $50(dual bulb) ;)
