OK, I can make my El Camino go real fast, but this restoration stuff is out of my area http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif So, excuse my ignorance...

I bought a set of door weatherstripping for my '68 El Camino awhile back. Just got around to checking it out this weekend. Something seems weird here. When I bought the car the doors had seals that covered the window frame part of the door, but nothing below that. The new seals are a complete circle, so I assume they go all the way around the door. Right? The new seals also have a bunch of plastic mounting studs in them, but I can't seem to find any holes in the door to accept these. What the heck am I doing??? Maybe somebody has a picture of a '68 door with this stuff installed?

Thanks.

Don't have any pictures, but the plastic tabs are used to hold the wea/strip to the door beginning at the bottom of the window and continuing around the bottom of the door up to the other side to the bottomof the window. If there are no holes, someone has filled them in. Check closely, I doubt that that has happened.

If you see little plastic "T" looking thingies sticking out of the door, bust them out and poke the hole clear. That's where you r new seals go in.

OK, I see those now. What about over the window frame? Does the seal go on the ridge (red arrow) or in the channel (blue arrow) on the attached picture?

Thanks.

Ooooo green! I see yours was the same color as mine was. The weatherstrip goes in the groove with the blue arrow pointing to it. You just press it in there and maybe with some adhesive (I'm not sure)and you'll be good to go. I would use a screwdriver or maybe a putty knife to get in there. It's not too diffucult.
