Either the mix was wrong:
Temperature and the thiner/reduceris to account for this
and, more commonly, the wrong air pressure AT THE GUN! get an air pressure gauge at the gun, if you don't already. read the tech sheets for the primer you're spraying.
What were you spraying, what pressure and what system are you using?

Not breaking the paint up enough is the cause. Two things do this, air or solvent. When the product is mixed correctly, the air needs attention.

What gun, and tip size?
What compresser?
What product will you be shooting?

the gun i'm using i'm borrowing from my neighbor so i don't know the specifications other than it is syphon feed and not a very good gun. i'll get a better one for my color coats. i was spraying at 30 psi and the compressor is a 5 gal. 3hp craftsman.

Sounds like you don't have enough CFM's for the gun.. You may want to look at the Low CFM Models at Sharpe www.sharpe1.com (http://www.sharpe1.com) or another reputable gun maker. I bought the Low Volume Gravity and Pressure guns and they work well.. No peel so far!
