Hi guys, I have been thinking of getting myself a new carb to replace my Holly 700 DP.. I'm leaning towards a speed demon, but they don't make a 800 CFM version of that carb.. My choices are to either go with a 750, or a 830.. I would really prefer to go with the 830, but don't want to over carb the car, on the other hand, I don't want to buy ANOTHER carb that will be too small if I change my engine combo again..

My current combo consists of:

396 block bored 40 over(407), 9.7: 1 CR, 702 Heads,Comp 274 (h) cam, MSD 6-AL box with GM HEI dist, Muncie M-20 trans, and 3:73 gears..

The car is MOSTLY street driven, but not by any means an every day driver..

So what do you think, could I swing a 830 on it, or am I better off staying with the 750??

TIA,
Scott

I would say you definatly should go with the 750 ,the 830 is to much!!
Besides i have heard rumors that the demons flow a little on the high side!

Ya go with the 750, Demons do flow more then the equivilent stock holley. The demons are wetflowed where as the Holleys are not...if i remember correctly.

You would need to spin that thing to 7500+ to use the 830, The 750 would have better street manners IMO

I agree! Stick with the Demon 750 mechanical seconds.
For comparision, my Demon carb is only rated at 995 cfm and is feeding a few more cubes.
