: Yikes!!!!
1BLACKHARLEY Mar 14th, 06, 5:35 PM i know i've been a little quiet the last few days, but we've been dealing with a health issue, and i just, 12:56 socal time, learned we are fine. my wifes biopsy is clean.
i'd like to make a personal plea, make sure your spouses get thier regular mammograms. my wife goes in regularly, but this thing appeared quickly, we were lucky to have a good facility near by, and a few appts. were canceled, which moved us in quickly, so instead of waiting weeks, we were able to deal with everything within a matter of days, luckily it wasn't anything to worry about. but you can't be treated, if they don't know it's there. the pressure has been tremendous the last few days, so now i think i'll just sit here and cry for a few minutes.... man! what a relief.....
Andy69 Mar 14th, 06, 5:44 PM Glad to hear you guys are OK. We went though that with my mother and it's no picnic. They've gotten a lot better at catching this stuff early in the last 30 years.

I always figured you for having X-RAY eyes Brad. I believe what he's trying to convey is he does a independant breast examination on his old lady every day. I'm glad her mass turned out to be benign, Yes today's advanced diagnostic medicine can locate abnormal tissue a great deal sooner, and even surgical interventions have become better; but breast CA still kills many women a year and this is a very important message to convey to everyone. Self breast exams once a month, and a yearly mammogram after age 40 every three years prior to 40 unless previous family history than yearly after 30 years of age. JN RN, BSN, CNOR, ACLS
John_Muha Mar 15th, 06, 10:05 AM Great news Bill.
1BLACKHARLEY Mar 15th, 06, 10:56 AM let me add something here. this wasn't a lump, and left unattended, it surely could have turned to something. these days, it's just not lumps, they've figured many cancers start in the ducting, so mammograms are a start.
my wife's body makes calcifications, and when you look at the imaging it looks like a star chart, well with in this chart, the calcifications were very random, (very normal for women), but in this instance there was a "cluster". this would have never been found by self exam, and after the mammogram, we had another imaging proccess, to confirm the cluster. after that we learned we needed a biop, but were lucky that somebody cancelled an appt. so we didn't have to wait weeks for a test. took the test at about 1 on friday, and recieved the results tuesday at about the same time.
today, cancer doesn't just mean lumps, that's why it is imperative that women get they're mammograms, then to be totally proactive, in any unusal circumstances. we were lucky, nothing to worry about, but we were proactive, and didn't wait to find out too late, that we needed help. don't ever let your loved one say, "ah, it's nothing honey" or let a doctor say, "let's take another look, in a few months", take matters into your own hands (no pun intended", and make sure you go after, what ever problem arises. it could mean the difference between life and death.
70ElkySS Mar 15th, 06, 2:19 PM My wife's had breast cancer twice, her mother had it twice, her sister once, my mother once. All were detected early and all are alive and well many years hence. The point is, check often, catch it early, or........

glad to hear everything is o.k. dude, there are a ton of kids out there that you could be a parent to. don't let anybody tell you, it ain't the same. i'm a big brother, and i've worked with kids all my life. there are plenty of kids that deserve, and don't get any attenion or love. after you get past your current issue, (heal time) talk to the partner, i'm sure you'll find a resolution that you'll both be comfortable with.
mike69ss Mar 16th, 06, 8:02 AM Glad everything checked out Ok -- It must have been a very scary time.
