Hello,
My 1970 convertible had a small brass plate held onto the driver's side door jam with 2 screws. It was attached to the quarter panel section of the door jam somewhere around the door strike pin if I recall correctly. The quarters were changed 16 years ago.
I just found, and would like to re-install this brass piece in the right location.
Does anyone have placement measurements or photos of this piece on a 1970 convertible?
By the way....what's this do-dad for anyway?
Many thanks, Joe

Joe,
Can't help with a photo or detailed location. The plate has a stainless steel mate that mounts on the edge of the door. When the door is closed, it prevents the rear edge of the door from contacting the front edge of the quarter panel if you jack up the car at one end or the other. Since there is limited structural rigidity in a convertible, the two plates make solid contact between the door and quarter panel. If you take some measurements for the stainless plate on the door, you can probably figure out where the one on the quarter is supposed to go.

Hello,
THANKS for the replies! I checked the car and do not see dimples in quarters.
Stainless plates are off doors (I must have taken them off when I painted the car 16 years ago). Are they available anywhere? Are the brass plates available? (only found the one so far in my recently rediscovered box of vintage parts).
Thanks again, Joe

My 70 Convertable is in the middle of a restore right now so I can't get you pictures, but I remmember taking those plates off and I think they were right at the top of the quarter just below the plastic weatherstripping for the rear window. Hope that helps- sounds like you're going to get pictures anyway. Good luck
