In the process of relocating to the north shore area of MA. Car shippers put a mondo scratch in the door of my 'velle. Of course, they couldn't have scratched the beater vette, they have to wreck my pride and joy...

So I'm looking for a reputable place to estimate the cost of repair. Custom candy red paint. Fantastic painted graphics on the door but the scratch is in the solid color area so I guess they could mask off the graphics, do the candy match and then clear the entire door.

Tough to estimate without seeing it but any guesses also welcome so I have something to go on when the mover's insurance dude calls. I think they'll try and lowball it either way.

Anyone have a recommendation in the Danvers, Salem, Peabody, Rowley etc area?

JYD, welcome to Massachusetts. Your in for a treat in the North Shore area. Lots of car stuff going on all the time. On Wednesday Nights starting up soon in Danvers, behind the Police Station at the Liberty Tree Mall, visit the Wednesday Night Cruises. This is a big cruise with more than 200 vehicles with pleanty of car guys and gals. Im sure that you'll be able to talk to some of the friendly people there and get some good information about paint shops in the area.

Love to see your '71. I got a '72 Elky, red, stock, and pristine. Stop by and say Hi.

Again, Welcome to MA.

Thanks David!

Found a shop confident they can do the job if they get the original "receipe" from the shop that did the work. Most shops just declined the work outright saying it would be too difficult.

Just had the movers drop off my household goods yesterday. Bought a place up in Haverhill so not too far from your hometown...

Hope to see you cruisin' !
