Due to a badly damaged and slightly rusted drivers door on my 66, I decided to replace the drivers door skin. I ended up with Dynacorn door skin that appeared to fit OK until I got it on the car. The distance between the top body line and the lower body line is about 3/16" longer than the fender's body lines, which makes aligning the body lines impossible. What should I do? Is it better to pull off the door skin and get a Goodmark panel (the skin is not welded on completely yet)? Try to find a perfect door (yeah, and hit the lottery too!)? Or, should I try to split the difference by making the top line a little high and the bottom a little low and try to match the lines with additional body work? I replaced the passenger side skin , as well, but that one lines up nearly perfect.
No one has an opinion on this?? Has anyone used a Goodmark drivers door skin on a 66 without any problems with fit and alignment?

One of the options you note is to get a Goodmark skin instead of the Dynacorn. I am not sure that Goodmark actually makes their own skin, so find out from them or someone before you buy. I say this because I ordered rear quarter panels from Goodmark for my 65 and when they came they were stamped made in Taiwan. Obviously they will sell other products if they don't make their own.
Another thought, maybe your fender was patched and that is why the body line is different. Maybe the door skin creases are correct but the fender line is off? Might want to measure up another fender or door skin to find out which one is the culprit. No use removing the door skin if someone made the fender line different by welding a half fender on or filling with bondo.
Hi bhawk, Thank you for the reply. I had thought of and checked the same things you mentioned. Both front fenders are repros. I measured the distance between the body line creases on both of the repro fenders and on 2 other original fenders and they were all about the same. I also measured an original drivers door and compared it to the repro drivers skin. It appears that it is definitely the drivers door skin that is the problem. Hopefully, I can get someone to post that has used a Goodmark skin on a 66 and can comment on the fit.
Thanks Again,
Tom
