This morning one of my hood hinges busted . . . I am using this as an excuse to buy a lift-off fiberglass hood, since I have a high-rise that doesn't fit too well under the stock hood. My first question is, where can I find one. Mind you, I want a complete lift-off deal, not one that uses the stock hinges or anything. With a 4" Cowl would be nice, but I'll take anything that'll fit a '68 SS. My second question is, does anyone want a mint condition '68 SS hood? You will have to pick it up, obviously, but I will probably let it go cheap. It is Marina Blue, 'power dome' stock SS hood. I never realized how damn heavy it was till a hinge busted on me! e-mail privately if you like at themling@hotmail.com hood is located in NE Nebraska.

i'd try Glastek or VFN both high quality and reasonably priced. I've had both lift off and bolt on latch on and my experince has been best with the bolt on hood.
I've had the lift off blow off and when your at a show it looks kinda dumb on the roof or in the back. i've seen other guys slid them under the car but mine sat to low.
I would avoid Unlimited Products good prices but crap work. I would also sit on the SS hood
Good Luck

I have a lift off glasstek on my 69 in signature. The fit is very good compared to other brands I/ve seen. The only reason I went lift off is that I have glass fenders too and I don't think they would support hinges. I use pins because they were simple, but look like butt compared to dzus fasteners. Had to add the center 2 because hood would sag sitting and rise at speed.

IMHO BobH is right, hang onto your hood the lift off will get old.
