my rear inner fenders are rusted badly.. my question is do these provide any structural support or just keep the water /debris away..im not sure if i will just patch them or replace.. im not looking for originality.. just a driver..

They support the largest portion of the rear quarter and wheel opening to keep it from flexing.
and they keep trash out of the trunk.
