I'm repainting my 71 El Camino (SS Clone) and have noticed that the raised center section of the SS hood seems to be just welded on a regular hood. Is this the way the factory did it or has someone gotten creative before me?

Sounds like someone got creative. Factory hoods were stamped with raised area.

I have an original SS hood and I can send a pic to you if you would like, but it sounds like someone got creative.
