: 9.97 @ 135.97...!!!
BigRed-L72 Mar 10th, 06, 7:48 PM Well guy`s the weather wasn`t too bad today!
The temps started to roll on pretty good after 10 AM, wasn`t sure if it was going to happen or not...
The sun was really starting heat things up and I`m sure the temperature was around 80 degrees or so But...
We finally got that elusive 9 sec time slip.!!!
Three passes in a row..9.98/9.99/ 9.97..
Then promptly told .."PARK THE CAR, SPECTATE IF YOU WANT, BUT THE CAR IS DONE FOR THE DAY"..
Never felt so good to get the boot..

All in all guy`s ,this was a good day of racing for us ..we had a GREAT TIME!! :)
BillsCamino Mar 10th, 06, 8:02 PM Nice Steve! Awesome car.
If my car ever ran that fast, I'd be tickled to death. Just once would be enough.
For that matter...if we were able to race on a FRIDAY, during the day, I'd be tickled...
Now what's the plans? Slow it down or deal with the safety equipment issues?
cody Mar 10th, 06, 8:23 PM Is this your car? give us the rundown of the combo again
JOHN WILSON Mar 10th, 06, 8:59 PM Sweet! We luvs us some 9's!!!! :D
Managed that on a 1.43 60'. Looks like you found some more muscle??
Harold Sutton Mar 10th, 06, 9:50 PM That's what i hate about organized drag racing. A 9.97-9.99 is only a touch from 10.00 and they act like the world is getting ready to end. That's also the reason nobody will ever see my car at the strip. It's too nice to ruin by welding a bunch of bars in it. I guess i don't understand why everyone is so scared of dying, it's the only thing in life that is "sure".
Bob West Mar 10th, 06, 9:52 PM Cool  It sounds like there might be a handful of guys hit the 9's this year. About the only way I can do it is with a well tuned 150 shot...it could happen ;)
edit: A few years back Harold, MoKan had a 11.79 e.t. break for a rollbar, I made two passes at 11.78, then was promptly told to slow it down or put a bar in it, for my own good I guess. I think its currently at 11.50, but with the new motor I knew I had to have a rollbar if I wanted to race. I hated to do it, but I love drag racing!!!

I understand why they do it but it still irritates me. If the old car was to die i'd want to go with it. It's only a matter of time till we all go anyhow, so get prepared. I can't think of anything less kind than laying around for a couple of years while dying of Cancer or Heart trouble while some Doctor robs your estate of every penny in it, only to have the inevitable happen anyhow and leave your loved ones in debt for his personal gain.
DragRacer Mar 11th, 06, 1:39 AM Congratulations Steve!!!
BigRed-L72 Mar 11th, 06, 7:49 AM Thanks guys..
Bill... we were able to run during the day because of the All Chevy Show that`s this weekend.
We always run at night too, this gave us an opportunity to take some pics and some video.
Personally...I`d like to work the car till we get a 9 sec pass on the street radials, I think that would be something to shoot for.!
Cody... Not my car...It`s my best buds car, been best friends since the 4th grade.!! Closer than brothers.
I determine what we need to do top to bottom, front to back.
I do the port work and engine assembly, tuning and adjustments parts selection all that... I`m his Austin Coil but without the toothpick :).
I spend his money like it was my own too, like the $59.00 Rancho shocks in back.
We work on the car together and we have a good time with the car.
It`s a simple 534" motor. Std bore Gen VI block with 4.25 stroke. Pump gas Hyd roller.
John W...Took some jet out, set the timing to 38 degrees and put some fresh plugs in.
Harrold S...I hear you on that...lifes not fair. Just have to do your best.
Bob W...You`ve got plenty of motor...lot`s of torque. You`ll have it running better and quicker no doubt!
DragRacer...thanks
Thanks for showing an interest Guys..

Bob West Mar 11th, 06, 9:10 AM I kinda think the same way Harold does,,,only my perspective includes more intimate parts ;),,,lose my car or my Uknow and there's no reason to stay here and pay taxes...:D How about them 9's!!!

Thanks for showing an interest Guys.. Congratulations on the new best times Steve, who drives? It looks like you've picked up a couple of MPH from the last time you posted too.
Harold Sutton Mar 11th, 06, 10:07 AM Harold.......very unique perspective............are you trying to tell us something? My nephew died three days short of his 20th birthday. Who would have thought of 10 as middle aged. The fools on the streets are way more dangerous than in a controlled dragstrip environment with solid barriers down both sides and where nobody can pull out in front of you. Sorry about the rant Steve, this is just one of my pet peaves. Those were some really good runs in what must have been average air.
