What is good for removing stains and polishing the aluminum headlight bezels on a '67 Chevelle?
I have tried Mothers Mag & Aluminum Polish and Brasso with no effect.
Thinking of trying OOOO steel wool. Might that scratch the aluminum?

"Simichrome" has been around for years. Its an excellent metal polish.
Take a real close look with a magnifying glass. Do you see what looks like fine scratches? coarse scratches, places that look like something has etched the surface? Dings? If so, you will probably have to use something stronger like very fine grit paper or steel wool, progressively finer down to polish. Then the problem becomes one of "waves" in the surface. Not easy. Nothing beats NOS or very-low-miles, "always garaged" parts.

I prefer a good old fashion cloth wheel and polishing compound sticks. The pastes are great but they can only do so much.

They're not doing anything because of the protective annodizing on the parts. You must remove that first.
I use oven cleaner. A few soakings, then rinse with water. After that, you can take to a buffing wheel or hand polish with Mothers or Neverdull.
You'll have to occasionally polish the part as it won't be protected any longer without the annodizing. This can be easily done right on the car with some neverdull every couple of months.

I agree with Mr409. You have to remove the anodizin first. I have used and strongly recommend Green Magic Plus, mtal cleaner & polish. It blows Mothers and som of the others away. Well, thats just my opinon.
I bought a couple bottles at the DFW Swap meet last year. I have never found it in a retail store.
I have the reps business card. Contact Sales Rep. Gary Lee, for orders call 281-359-6241, Nacogdoches, TX. Hope this helps.

mr409 or anyone else
I tried the oven cleaner thing with Easy off a couple of times but without any luck. Maybe I just got impatient. How long do you need to let the parts soak?
Thanks
