I have my 67 GTO all apart(body off chassis),no floors nothing in the interior. I have the chassis narrowed in the rear and am inthe process of putting it back in. I have a pretty stout 540 for it and an 8 point bar. Should I make it a 14 point while the whole car is apart when it is easiest to do or just do the 8 point. I may put a stronger motor in it in the future. The car will be street driven on the week ends.

Do you feel that the car will ever break 9.99? if so might as well do it all now while it's apart and raw. Nothing worse than having to go and add to a cage that's already nicely painted in a pristine interior and risk getting burn holes in the headliner, or seats. Put the whole cage in now, paint it nice, and be done with it. This way you NEVER have to hassle with it again. Then on the other hand, if you think the car will NEVER hit even close to a 10.0 then don't worry about it... but being a hotrodder like you are, you'll hit 11.0 and want to hit 10.0 then want to break 9's and so on and so forth, so do it all now ;)

The 12 point wil make the chasis much more rigid. With a ton of torque your gonna need it.

I have one problem. I have to replace the headliner, how hard is this to do with the cage in there. Can I install it first then weld? Maybe because the floor and trunk of the car has been removed I can weld up the bar and then drop the chassis and the bar to the garage floor and then install the headliner.

The only thing I cant tell you I just got done putting a 10 point in my 70 Chevelle I was going to take the headliner out but decided not to and am Glad I would have never been able to get it back I just used fire blankets and extra chunks of metal and stuff and didn't burn the headliner not once I could have gotten real luckey!
